January 2014

Happy New Year!

As the new term begins our pupils will be learning a Burns poem for our annual competition. Class competitions will take place next week with the semi final on Tuesday 21st January and the final on Friday 24th January. We hold a Burns Supper along with the final with all pupils given the opportunity to taste haggis, neeeps an tatties. Our primary 7 pupils lead the Burns supper with The Selkirk Grace, toasts to the lads and lassies and The Immortal Memory. We have a piper who will play his bagpipes to pipe in the haggis and to pipe the pupils into the hall after food for the competition. Once we hear the 8 finalists recite their poems there is then entertainment from some of our pupils who may dance or play an instrument. This is always a lovely, if very busy, morning and I look forward to hearing our pupils recite their poems.
